I'm sure if you read this blog at all you enjoy the music of Mark Lanegan. Whether you enjoy Queens of the Stone Age, Screaming Trees, his solo stuff, Soulsavers... nobody can deny that he can sing the hell out of a song. He does so many projects that it's hard to keep track of all his work, so here's a decently sized collection of rare tracks of his. It has everything from a Queens of the Stone Age cover of "Precious and Grace" by ZZ Top to a song from a children's album called "Sneakers". One of my favorite tracks from this collection is a live cover he did of "Tomorrow Night" by Sam Closlow. Needless to say its an eclectic compilation of tracks and has plently of desolate, bluesy Mark Lanegan style.

(Okay, so I tried to label the origins of the tracks the best I could. Hopefully I ordered it all correctly, it may have gotten a bit jumbled. Let me know if it is and i'll change it around. The source on this is from a user on Soulseek... I will gladly give tribute to whoever put this group of songs together if I can find out who it is.)
Cheers, was just in the middle of gathering this together from last.fm and youtube you've saved me alot more work

ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome collection, I was wondering if you could tell me where the cover of "Into My Arms" comes from? Someone is actually insisting that isn't Mark, although I think it sure sounds like him, just maybe a little bit of an older performance.
ReplyDeleteNever mind about that cover of "Into My Arms" - it's the Tea Party, all by themselves.
